Bangladesh's First Win in T20 Against Australia

The taste of defeating Australia in ODIs and Tests was already there. But the T20 win against this team, one of the best in the world, was elusive for Bangladesh for so long. That dissatisfaction was removed at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur today. Despite winning the first match of the five-match T20 series by just 131 runs, Bangladesh won by 23 runs against Australia. With 4 wickets for just 19 runs, young left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed single-handedly thrashed Matthew Wade's Australia.

Mahmudullah's team scored just as many runs against Australia in the Mirpur wicket today as Bangladesh needed to win. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 131 runs in the spin heaven at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. The hosts went ahead 1-0 in the first match of the five-match T20 series with a victory of 23 runs.

Bangladesh's 131 runs at the beginning seemed easy for Australia. But after the first three overs of the Australian innings, the story changed. Off-spinner Mehdi Hasan's first ball was bowled to Australian opener Alex Carey. Jos Filipi and Mojes Henriques are absent in the next two overs of Nasum and Shakib Al Hasan. Australia, the No. 5 teams in the T20 rankings, lost three wickets in the first three overs. Even after scoring a few runs, Bangladesh has been dreaming of victory ever since. That dream has finally come true with a taste of the first T20 win against Australia.

With the exception of Mitchell Marsh, who has been in great form since the West Indies tour, none of the Australians have been able to understand the diversity of Bangladesh's spin and pacers. Marsh alone kept the team's hopes alive by scoring 45 off 45 balls. Apart from this, there is no other 20-run innings in Australia's innings.

The most successful left-arm spinner among the bowlers of Bangladesh is Nasum Ahmed. Nasum took 4 wickets with only 19 runs in 4 overs. He is also the man of the match. Besides, Mehedi, Shakib, Mostafiz, and Shariful also got wickets.
