Ben Stokes Takes an Indefinite Break from Cricket

Cricket is a psychological game. In the modern era, therefore, the mental health of cricketers is given much importance; Especially in countries like England, Australia. Ben Stokes wanted such a break indefinitely. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also paid tribute to the decision of the team's best all-rounder without any objection.

As a result, England will not be able to serve Stokes in the crucial five-match Test series against India. The ECB said in a statement that Stokes had moved away from focusing on mental health. Moreover, the injury of the finger of his left hand did not heal completely. The series between India and England will start on Wednesday. The English have called up Somerset all-rounder Craig Overton as an alternative to Stokes' move.

Stokes has played 61 Tests, 101 ODIs, and 34 T20Is for England. The 30-year-old all-rounder took a leave of absence from August to October last year to stay with his ailing father. He lost his father in December. The ECB is taking the issue of Stokes' mental distress very seriously. Ashley Giles, the board's managing director, said they were willing to give the all-rounder leave as long as it took.
